Tavish Scott MSP has highlighted the contribution volunteers make across Shetland as part of the UK-wide Volunteers’ Week, which runs from 1-12 June. This year’s campaign celebrates the power of volunteering and encourages more people to consider voluntary roles in their communities. Over a quarter of adults in Scotland already volunteer in some form.
Commenting, Tavish Scott said:
“Volunteers’ Week is about making sure that those who give up their time receive thanks. In Shetland we have some fantastic organisations which frankly could not operate without the dedication of teams of local volunteers. Voluntary Action Shetland provides a particularly invaluable service and I hope that more people will consider giving up a little of their time for one of the many worthwhile projects across the islands”.
