Tavish today spoke about the important work carried out by two local charities during a debate in the Scottish Parliament.
He highlighted the efforts of From Shetland With Love, run by Mona McAlpine and Project Bongo, set up by Peter Davis, as MSPs discussed the importance of Scotland's international development strategy.
Commenting, Tavish Scott said:
“These charities are working on some very worthwhile projects in Ghana and Lesotho, providing children with an education who otherwise might go without. Shetlanders’ willingness to dig deep when these charities fundraise is something to be proud of.
“At times, it can be easy for us to lose sight of the privileges we enjoy as a developed country. That is why is important that we help where we can.”
