Shetland MSP Tavish Scott has accused the SNP of backtracking on its commitment to more powers for island communities.
In a statement today, Rural Affairs Secretary Richard Lochhead made no mention of giving island communities full powers over the Crown Estate, instead focussing only on the assignation of revenues.
Mr Scott said:
“Once again a Nationalist minister is backtracking on the full transfer of powers to the islands. Yet the SNP signed up to Shetland receiving the full powers over the Crown Estate in the Smith Agreement.
“I am very concerned that the Scottish Government are kicking this ball into the long grass. I will raise this in Parliament once again.”
