Following the announcement of the new Scottish Government’s ministerial team, Shetland MSP Tavish Scott has urged the new Minister for Transport and the Islands, Humza Yousaf, to take action to fulfil the promises made by the SNP during the election.
Commenting after details of the full ministerial team was announced, Tavish Scott said:
“The First Minister promised to address the higher ferry fares faced by the Northern Isles when she visited both Orkney and Shetland during the election campaign.
“Now that Humza Yousaf has been announced as the new Minister for Transport and the Islands we must see how the Scottish Government will deliver this commitment. I will not let them get away with years of further inaction, and neither will the people of Shetland.
“I’m looking forward to hearing more details about how our ferry fares will be made fairer – details which did not appear in the SNP’s manifesto but which must be taken forward as a priority.”
